Biography
Dutch carpenter, the son of a baker with a humble background. As a youth he became a builder's apprentice where he learned carpentry, architectural design and project financing. Adventuresome, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1939 to find his fortune. He began as a carpenter in Rochester, NY.
In 1942 he returned to Holland to seek his wife, Geertje Klomp (born 3/27/1876 at Wognum), no kids. They returned to San Francisco, but moved on to Denver for a better climate to relieve Zomer's asthma. He went into the building business, doing financially well and building a respected place in the community.
Zomer died at 102 on 6/05/1984, Denver, CO.
