Biography
American Major League Baseball (MLB) right-handed pitcher for the Washington Senators (1939, 1941–1944, 1946–1948), Cleveland Indians (1949–1957), Chicago White Sox (1958–1962) and Cleveland Indians (1963). Wynn served as a coach and broadcaster in the major leagues after his retirement as a player.
He won the Cy Young Award in 1959; that same year he was named Major League Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
He died on 4 April 1999, aged 79, in Venice, Florida, following heart related problems and a stroke.
