Biography
French writer. After founding a small theatre company in 1950, he turning to writing, publishing his first novel "Arban" in 1954. In 1963, he received the Prix Femina for "La Nuit de Mougins," and in 1989 the Grand prix de littérature de l'Académie française in recognition of his body of work. He died on 16 August 1997 in Lille.
