Biography
French military officer in World War II, awarded the title of 'Compagnon de la Libération' (English: Companion of the Liberation).
He was a captain in charge of parachute missions which used radio transmitters to relay information to the allied command.
On 10 June 1944, he was arrested in Chartres by two German police officers and wounded by two bullets after he tried to escape. Imprisoned, he was tortured for more than two weeks, but refused to speak. On 26 June, he was brought before the German military court and sentenced to death for espionage. He was shot the next day at Chavannes firing range near Chartres.
