Dutch economist, politician and professor at the Technical School in Delft. He was concerned with the ethical aspects of economic problems.
Earlier, Veraart pleaded for a form of collective labour agreement between employers and employees. Despite a critical attitude to the party's course, he was an active member of the Roman Catholic State Party (RKSP) for a long time. Veraart was an ardent advocate of parliamentary democracy, and turned against forms of state authoritarian behaviour. After the war, he argued for an open society in which cooperation between Western European countries on the basis of Christianity would offer new opportunities for civilization. He was a member of the Social Economic Council.
He died in Wassenaar on 15 January 1955, aged 68.
