Biography
French photographer and film pioneer. Originally a pharmacist, the brothers Lumière hired him as operator of the cinematograph, which served as both film camera and projector. Veyre travelled many countries of the world and made films. Between 1901 and 1907, he was the court photographer and cinéaste of the Sultan of Morocco. During this time, he realised his first autochrome picture, an early system of colour photography developed by brothers Lumière. Veyre died on 13 January 1936.
