At eighteen, he wrote to the magazine O'Squarr Quick Flor. The following year, he moved to The Nation directed by Victor Arnould, and at the same time The Belgian Star. In 1890, he joined The Gazette. Vanzype soon was elected to the position of editor of the Gazette, he will perform this task until the First World War.
Since 1890, his fascination for the stage is realized in a first one-act play entitled The Father.
Until the First World War, Vanzype was engaged in regular publication of several books on art criticism. "Our painters" in three volumes between 1904 and 1905, it brings together more than twenty chronic Belgian artists to Stobbaerts of Lynen, Smits to Gilsoul, Delvin at Verheyden. Until the end of his life, he will have a passion for the work of artists, focus on Verwee to Leys, brothers Stevens, Hippolyte Boulenger in Opsomer, he wrote texts on Rubens (1942). He also published surveys on Belgian art in the nineteenth century. He was elected to the Fine Arts Royal Academy of Belgium.
He died in Brussels on 12 September 1955.
