Biography
Belgian painter, engraver, landscape painter, illustrator and designer of posters and book covers.
He was a nephew and disciple of Florimond Van Acker (1858-1940). He studied at the kunstacadamies Bruges and Antwerp and was later a teacher there.
He painted picturesque sites in Bruges and Antwerp and in Brittany and Venice. He designed graphics for processions.
He became the most famous poster designer from Antwerp and also made designs for stamps, costumes and books. He illustrated the book "De Leeuw van Vlaanderen" (The Lion of Flanders) by Hendrik Conscience (1912) and designed the book covers for three books by Guido Gezelle in Amsterdam.
He died in Uccle in 1969.
