Biography
Italian botanist whose field research in botany began in Valle d'Aosta, where he stayed from 1896 to 1902 as a science teacher at the Aosta Classical High School. He worked with the Abbe Chanoux, founder of the Alpine Botanical Garden Chanousia. In 1902, with Joseph-Marie Henry, he co-founded the Bulletin of the Valdostane Flora Society, of which he was the publisher until 1941, and since 1975 renamed the Valdostan Journal of Natural History. In those years, the project was born from a complete work on the flora of Valle d'Aosta, which saw the birth of a single volume dedicated to Thalamiflores and Calyciflores. He is the author of more than 150 scientific publications. He also wrote many popular science articles and textbooks for high schools. He died in 1951 in Rome.
