Biography
French senior government official, known for being the target of an assassination attempt probably ordered by Soviet service in 1957 that killed his wife.
He was prefect of Algiers from 1952 to 1955, then of the Lower Loire, before being appointed prefect of the Lower Rhine in 1956.
On 17 May 1957, his wife, Henriette Trémeaud died after opening a package containing the explosive acetone peroxide.
André-Marie Trémeaud continued his work until his retirement in 1966 and died on 28 September 1993.
