German gynaecologist, who published numerous scientific papers and monographs. He was a member of the board of the Free Association of Central German Gynaecologists and the German Society of Gynaecology.
In Halle, he was the first assistant at the University Women's Hospital. In 1887 he followed his academic teacher Robert von Olshausen to Berlin and became a senior physician at the University Women's Hospital. In 1888 he opened a private clinic for gynaecological diseases in Magdeburg. In 1906 he became director of the Gynaecological Department of the Municipal Hospitals.
Thorn died in Magdeburg on 2 May 1913.
