Biography
American pro baseball player who has played for the American League for eight years and the National League for three years as of 1998. Tapani was selected in the ninth-round free-agent draft pick by the Chicago Cubs, 6/03/1985, not signing with them, he was selected by the Oakland Athletics organization 6/02/1986. While pitching for the A's he was still finishing his degree in finance, graduating from Central Michigan College in 1987 and signing with the N.Y. Mets 12/11/1987. From there he has played with the Los Angeles Dodgers, back to the Mets, the Minnesota Twins, back to the Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs organization 12/16/1996. Only being placed on the disabled list twice, Tapani has done his rehabilitation in the Midwest AAA League. Statistically he has pitched a 5-0 one-hit complete game victory over Cincinnati 9/16/1997, played in the Division Series games in 1995, the Championship Series Games in 1991 and the win of the World Series games in 1991. At 6'0", 189 lbs., he throw right and bats right.
