Biography
British reverend, botanist, paleobotanists and geologist. The son of a Moravian minister and teacher, he trained for their ministry in Germany. Returning to England, he lived in London and Bath, and later at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA. He amassed a large collection of stratigraphically arranged fossils from all over England, along with a detailed manuscript catalogue. Steinhauer suffered from consumption, dying on 22 July 1818 at Bethlehem.
