Biography
American writer who began her career in 1913 as a reporter and worked as a journalist for Hearst publications for many years. Rogers published her first short story, "The Black Cat" in 1918 and her first novel, "The Sky Rocket" in 1923. It was the first of several of her books that were made into movies.
Rogers St-Johns taught at the graduate school of journalism at UCLA 1950-52 as well as at other schools. She made three marriages and divorces, the first from 1914 to 1929, with one daughter and two sons. In 1969, she published her memoirs, "The Honeycomb." She died at 94 in Arroyo Grande, CA, 8/10/1988.
