Biography
French painter who was one of the most important of a group of abstract artists out of Paris who came into prominence after WW II. His paintings were large and somber, predominately in black and brown. He married Colette LLaurens on 24 Octoner 1942. His first one-man show was in 1949 and that same year he designed stage and ballet sets, as well as in 1952.
