Biography
Israeli musician and songwriter, hailed as the "first lady of Israeli song and poetry." She was one of the most important Hebrew songwriters since the founding of the state - many of the hundreds of songs she wrote formed the very bedrock of Israeli culture.
In 1983, Shemer received the Israel Prize.
