Biography
German homicide; the killer of 12 boys between 1933 and 1935. An itinerant watchmaker, he was first charged with the murder of a young boy in 1908 but the case was never proven. When confined to a mental home near Potsdam, he refused to speak a word for two years. He was at the same time a Bible student and could quote scripture at length. Through his lifetime he spent 23 years altogether in jail for sexual offences against young boys before he was arrested for murder in early 1936.
When finally apprehended, the bodies of 12 boys between the ages of 4 and 12 were found who had been killed with a poison made from wild plants and fungi. The boys were all found in an attitude of repose with no sign of sexual assault. Seefeld confessed to the 12 murders, was tried in February 1936 and executed by beheading on 5/23/1936.
