Biography
French pharmacist and entrepreneur who was the founder of L'Oréal, the world's leading company in cosmetics and beauty. He was one of the founders of modern advertising. He died on 23 August 1957, aged 76, in Paris.
He married twice, first to Louise Doncieux and second to Annie Burrows.
With his first wife Schueller had a daughter, Liliane Bettencourt, who was the widow of André Bettencourt with whom she had one daughter, Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, a member of L'Oréal's board of directors. Françoise Meyers married Jean-Pierre Meyers, whose parents died in the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. Liliane Bettencourt was the wealthiest woman in the world, with holdings estimated at US$36.4 billion.
