Biography
German internist, university teacher, author and pioneering dietician. In 1935, Schlayer, together with Joachim Prüfer and Johanna Kunath published the first edition of the textbook, Lehrbuchs der Krankenernährung, with Johanna Prüfer writing the recipe section. The textbook was published in seven editions. In addition to his work on folk nutrition and especially on nutrition, Schlayer also dealt with occupational therapy. Schlayer also dealt with nervous diseases and developed functional tests of the kidneys.
He died on 2 October 1937 in Berlin, aged 61.
