Biography
German champion cyclist who specialized in long-distance and six-day races. He won the Berlin-Leipzig-Berlin race in 1910, the Berlin–Cottbus–Berlin race in 1911, the six-day race in Kiel in 1913, and the Nuremberg-Munich-Nuremberg race in 1921, retiring the next year.
During World War I Schallwig served as a soldier and was awarded the Iron Cross.
Schallwig was married to Emma Tonne from 1917 until their divorce in 1940. He died in 1960.
