Biography
Flemish writer who started his career as a teacher at the Royal Athenaeum in Bruges. In 1903, he became a teacher in Mechelen. From 1907 he also taught at the Royal Flemish Academy of Antwerp. In 1919 he became Director of the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp and from 1923 he became professor at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles.
He was a son of Julius Sabbe and the eldest of seven children. He married Gabriëlla De Smet.
He died in Antwerp on 12 February 1938.
