Biography
Italian ecclesiastic, Vice-President of Rome and President of the CEI since 1985. He was ordained a priest in 1938 and a Cardinal in 1973. Since 1991, Poletti has been vicar-general for the City of Rome and District, judge of the Roman Curia, member of the council, archpriest of the Patriarchal Lateran and member Papal Council for Cardinals and Bishops. He is also the author of numerous religious booklets and has received the award of Commander of the Legion of Honour of France, as well as the Grand Officer of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
