Biography
Canadian-American actress. First acting on stage at the age of five, she became a great actress of the silent films. Pickford was the first actress to ever win an Oscar in the talking film named "Coquette" in 1928/1929. A talented actress starring in over 200 films, she was also the co-founder of United Artists and of the Motion Picture Academy.
She and her husband, Doug Fairbanks, Sr., ruled the aristocracy of Hollywood, often entertaining from their estate, Pickfair. She died in 1979 from a cerebral hemorrhage.
