Biography
French writer, specializing in maritime novel.
As radio-telegraph and later as captain of the merchant navy, he sailed for the maritime transportation companies. He traveled the Mediterranean and the line from the Atlantic to the United States and the White Sea, the South Seas, on various cargo ships. During the First World War, he served on the transport of troops and munitions.
In 1936, he resigned from his job to devote himself only to literature.
He was elected as a member of the Academy of Marseilles in 1939. He received the prize of the French Academy in 1940.
He died 2 September 1963.
