French actress and singer who made her debut in "Femmes de Paris," 1953, and was renowned for her passionate versions of Georges Brassens’ ballads.
Born Henriette Ragon, she is known professionally as "Patachou." In the 1950s, she was a favorite of French audiences, and in 2001, she still performed, appearing in "Phantom of the Louvre."
Married, she and her husband, Jean Billon, owned a bakery that specialized in "pâtes à chou," a puff pastry, which was the inspiration for her stage name.
Her son Pierre Billon is a singer.
