Biography
French painter, noted for his decorative and idyllic subject matter, who was commissioned by Sarah Bernhardt to paint her portrait along with murals on the walls inside her home.
His other works include Elegy (1868), Bacchante (1892) and Allegory (1880).
His brother, Dr. Joseph-Marie-Jules Parrot, was a pioneer in pediatrics.
Philippe Parrot died in Paris on 14 May 1894, aged 63. A posthumous auction dispersed his studio fund on 15 June 1894 at the Hôtel Drouot. A street in Périgueux is named after him.
