Biography
Spanish journalist who co-founded the monthly magazine Burgos Gráfico in 1935, and in 1936 the Agrupación Teatral Arte. He frequented the El Ciprés social circle, where he met other intellectuals such as Eduardo de Ontañón.
He went to Madrid to look for a job, and was impressed by the changes that were taking place in Spain. He began to write in different genres: poetry, prose, tango lyrics, theatre and articles. In 1931, when the Republic was proclaimed, he returned to Burgos. His writings, previously inspired by pure aesthetics, acquired republican ideology and leftist overtones. At this stage, he wrote for various publications, such as La Libertad and El Socialista Alavés. He lived for two years in Vitoria and in 1934 he returned to Burgos and married Antonia Martínez.
Shortly after the coup d'état of 18 July 1936 he was arrested by the rebel side. The legend circulated that Antonio Pardo had accused a priest of pederasty. On the night of 8-9 October 1936 he was shot along with 23 other people, among them his friend Antonio José, and buried in a common grave on Mount Estépar.
