Biography
Norwegian resistance member during World War II and one of the leaders of the intelligence organisation XU. In the fall of 1942 she was wanted by the Gestapo and operated under a false identity for the rest of the war. As part of XU she had several aliases but was best known as "Aslak," which is a male name, and for most of her subordinates it came as a surprise that their boss had in fact been a young woman. She declined any decorations offered to her for her war efforts.
Østvedt died on 16 November 2009 in Sande, Norway, aged 89.
