Biography
American journalist and TV and radio personality.
Host of "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox cable news since 1996 and "The Radio Factor" since 2002. O'Reilly has two Emmy awards for investigative journalism to his credit and three best-selling books, as well as a novel, "Those Who Trespass," optioned for the screen by Mel Gibson's Icon Productions.
Bill holds a B.A. in history from Marist College, a master's degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University and a master's in public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
He lives in Long Island with his wife Maureen McPhilmy whom he married in 1995; they have a daughter Madeleine and a son Spencer.
On October 14, 2004 he was accused by a female Fox producer of multiple instances of sexual harassment; he countersued, charging that she and her attorneys were trying to extort $80 million from him. Two weeks later, on October 28,, O'Reilly announced that he and the plaintiff had settled the suit and he would not speak of it further.
News reports claimed the settlement cost O'Reilly somewhere between $2 million and $10 million.
