Biography
Norwegian computer scientist, programming language pioneer, and politician. He is internationally acknowledged as the co-inventor of object-oriented programming and the programming language Simula with Ole-Johan Dahl in the 1960s.
He was professor of Computer science at the University of Århus 1975-1976, professor II (part-time) at the University of Oslo from 1977, and full-time 1984-1996.
Nygaard died of a heart attack on 10 August 2002 in Oslo, Norway, aged 75.
