Biography
French geologist who developed a Clay Laboratory for the study of clays, which soon became internationally renowned, and in 1963 created the CNRS (Center for Sedimentology and Surface Geochemistry Research) which he led for more than twenty years. He died on 10 September 1991, aged 74, in Strasbourg.
