German business executive who was CEO of Farbwerke Hoechst, a German chemical company.
At Hoechst, his specialty was the production of artificial indigo. From 1902 he was responsible as a board member for its production. After the death of Gustav von Brüning in 1913 he became chairman of the board. In 1916 he left the board and became a member of the supervisory board.
In 1888 he was raised by Kaiser Wilhelm II together with his older brother Wilhelm into the hereditary Prussian nobility.
He died on 2 January 1919 in Sindlingen, aged 52.
