Biography
French chemist and philosopher of Italian origin who moved to Paris to flee the Mussolini fascism and worked as a foreign collaborator and head of laboratory at the Institut Pasteur. He directed the physical chemistry laboratory of this institute. Specialist in micelles (macromolecules), this remarkable scientist excited young people, directed the researchers and impressed them with his personality and by example, being passionate about new science. He wrote several treatises on general chemistry (micellar chemistry, colloidal chemistry), including a preface by the physicist Paul Langevin, of whom he was a close friend. He died in 1941.
