French tennis player who played in the longest tennis match to date at Wimbledon in June 2010. His opponent was American John Isner of North Carolina.
The long, exhausting and record-breaking match began on June 22, 2010 in Wimbledon and lasted over 11 hours and 183 games spread out over three days. The French tennis champion who had turned professional in 2000 ultimately lost to Isner.
Aged 31, he won his first ATP World Tour tournaments ('S-Hertogenbosch 2013, NL), defeating Stanislas Wawrinka in the final, (Newport 2013, USA), defeating Leyton Hewitt.
