American quintuplets, the first in the USA that were all born alive. The five boys were born to Elizabeth Lyon, the wife of Oscar Lyon, a farmer. They died at ages ranging from 4 to 14 days. The last survivor died on 14 May 1896. The mother believed they died of starvation because she did not have enough milk to feed them and from being handled by crowds of visitors.
