Biography
American writer, a poet and author of a dozen volumes of verse. She was a militant leader in the development of modern American poetry. Her most noted volume of verse began with, "A Dome of Many Colored Glass." Heavyset and large in structure, she paid no attention to the Boston Brahmins who raised their eyebrows at her lesbian lifestyle. She received numerous academic awards and was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1926.
