Biography
Scottish case of longevity, a hardy workaholic.
She stayed on the job until a few weeks before her death in November 1997, shortly before her 100th birthday.
From humble beginnings, Lowe became one of the first women chartered accountants in Scotland and a leading figure in Edinburgh's financial community. She was a meticulous and canny businesswoman whose estate was valued at 7 million pounds.
Called a "stubborn old rascal," she set up a Trust for her favorite charities but refused to name heirs for her will and her solicitors were obliged to hire genealogists to track down her relatives around the globe.
Everyone was convinced that she did this deliberately and resented the imposition of death that took her away from her work.
