Biography
French royalty, the son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. He was age seven when his parents went to the guillotine, on 21 January 1793. The youthful Dauphin was then the king in name until he disappeared from prison in 1795. The official theory is that he was poisoned on or about 8 June 1795, age nine. During the autopsy, the physician Dr. Pelletan was shocked to see the countless scars which covered the body of Louis-Charles. The scars were the result of the physical abuse he suffered while imprisoned.
