Biography
French ethnologist, archaeologist and one of the pioneers of ethnoarchaeology. He engaged in research in central Africa including Cameroon and Chad and identified the Sao civilization (which flourished in Middle Africa from ca. the sixth century BCE to as late as the sixteenth century CE).
He died on 28 February 1994 in Vaison-la-Romaine, France.
