German politician who served as the mayor of Stuttgart from 1930 to 1933, having been on the city council since 1911. He retired in 1933 at the urging of the National Socialists (Nazis). Lautenschlager is noted for improving Stuttgart's infrastructure by building the first sewage treatment plant, the main train station, the funicular and municipal bathing establishments. In 1912 he married Emma Rustige, with whom he had two daughters. He died in Stuttgart on 6 December 1952 at age 84.
