Biography
German portrait painter and graphic artist from the Frankfurt artistic and entrepreneurial Klimsch family. He was the eldest son of the artist Eugen Johann Georg Klimsch and Anna Helena Burkhard, his brothers were the painter Paul Klimsch and the sculptor Fritz Klimsch.
He first studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Gabriel von Hackl. He was then taught by Ferdinand Keller at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. Finally, he studied at the Grand Ducal Saxon School of Art in Weimar with Max Thedy. He was a professor at the school Reimann in Berlin and in 1896 he designed the logo of the Schultheiss brewery.
He died in 1936.
