Biography
American jockey. Tall for his sport at 5-feet, 7-inches, "Cowboy Jack" Kaenel holds the record for being the youngest rider to win a Triple Crown race - when he rode Aloma's Ruler at age 16 in the 1982 Preakness Stakes (winning on May 15, 1982). In early April of 2007 he suffered a seizure and cracked skull, requiring emergency brain surgery. He has also battled alcoholism, suffered other injuries and waged a battle against weight. Kaenel has ridden 2,046 winners from 15,270 races in his career.
