Biography
Canadian hockey player who played as a forward with the Chicago Black Hawks, in the NHL, from 1958-72. From 1973-1980 he played with the Winnipeg Jets in the HWA. He was the NHL's leading scorer in 1960, 62 and 66 and was the leader in NHL goals seven times; he scored 77 WHA goals in 1975. He was known for his slapshot, agility and distinguished and lengthy career as the premier left winger of his day.
Hockey's multiple record-holder, he was known as the Golden Jet. His son Brett followed his dad's lead and for the first time in NFL history father and son shared honors as both winners of 50-goals, 1990. Bobby and his wife divorced in 1979, when Brett was 14. It was a bitter split; Joanne took the kids to Vancouver and she and Bobby still barely speak. Bobby did not see the kids often but remained as close as possible and passed on his love of hockey to Brett.
