Biography
Belgian liberal politician and a teacher at the École minière of Hainaut.
He was also professor of political, geographical and industrial economics at the École des Mines in Mons. In 1876 he was one of the founding members of the Royal Belgian Society of Geography. He was a member of the central committee, then vice-president, and finally president from 1897 to 1903.
In 1867, he contributed to geological and archaeological discoveries at Spiennes. Five years later he published Manuel élémentaire de géographie physique.
He died in Mons on 20 May 1922, aged 89.
