Biography
German jurist and politician for the Social Democratic Party of Germany.
Heilmann attended the University of Berlin, majoring in law and political science. During World War I, he was a proponent of the German party truce during the first war (Burgfriedenspolitik). Heilman gained a seat in the Reichstag in the German federal election, 1928. Only a few months after Hitler and the Nazi's seized power (Machtergreifung), Heilmann was imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp, where he was murdered on 3 April 1940.
