German film actor, the son of director Alfred Halm, he took acting lessons with Eduard von Winterstein and Hermann Vallentin. He began his stage career in 1919 at the Schauspielhaus in Potsdam, then moved to Hamburg and later to Berlin. He made his first film appearance in Freund Ripp (1923) and played numerous leading roles as a charmer and womanizer, often opposite Lilian Harvey. With the beginning of the sound film era, he was restricted to supporting roles, and after the "seizure of power" by the Nazis in 1933, he was no longer employed due to anti-Semitism. Only in the post-war period did he make a comeback in a few films. Harry Halm died on 22 November 1980 in Munich, aged 78.
