Biography
American baseball player elected to Hall of Fame in 2007.
Gwynn was signed to the San Diego Padres on June 16, 1981 and made his major league debut on July 19, 1982. During his two decades with the team he captured eight batting titles and never hit below .300 per season.
After retirement in 2001, he began coaching at the San Diego State University and became a sports analyst for ESPN.
He was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 29, 2007.
Gwynn married in 1981. Their two children are making professional names for themselves as well. His daughter Anisha Nicole is a rhythm and blues artist and his son Tony Jr. joined the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team and made his major league debut on July 19, 2006.
