Biography
German leader of the Swiss NSDAP (Nazi) party, with about 5000 members among the 100'000 Germans living in Switzerland. Assassinated by gunman David Frankfurter in Davos, Switzerland on 4 February 1936. The German cruise ship Wilhelm Gustloff was named after Gustloff by the Nazi regime; the ship was sunk in 1945 by Russian forces with the loss of over 9,000 lives, mostly civilist refugees.
