Biography
German-Jewish cardiologist and radiologist who emigrated to the United States.
He founded the Kerckhoff Institute in Bad Nauheim and headed it as the first director from 1931. In 1951, the Max Planck Society took over. Today is is known as Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research.
After the "Machtergreifung" he was compelled in 1933 to emigrate to the USA. He was the founder of the American College of Cardiology.
He died on 12 October 1951, aged 70, in New York.
