Biography
American musician, she is considered the brains and the voice behind the popular band “Magnetic Fields.” Gonson provides vocals and plays drums, percussion, keyboards, ukulele and she also is the band manager and chief organizer. As to her sexuality, Gonson claimed in a May 2000 interview that she was straight when she met band leader Stephen Merritt but is gay now, and that she has hung out with so many homosexuals that she considers herself more a “fag hag” than a “lezzie hag.” She is a Harvard College graduate with a Ph.D. from City University in New York.
